Los Angeles, CA - March 13, 2014 - Grammy Award-winning Deyan Audio Services, Inc., producer of thousands of audiobooks, announced today the formation of the Deyan Institute of Voice Artistry and Technology. Believed to be the first of its kind worldwide, the Deyan Institute was founded in honor of Bob Deyan and with his vision of promoting and preserving the highest artistic and technological standards in audio production.
The Institute marks the realization of a longtime dream of industry leading audiobook producer Bob Deyan, who was diagnosed last year with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
"It's hard to express how much it means to me to launch this school in honor of my husband, Bob Deyan," said Institute founder, Debra Deyan. "Bob is riveted by excellent acting, loves the human voice and particularly the ancient art of storytelling. He spent his life's work directing actors and preserving the human voice experience for generations to come. It is my vision that Bob's legacy will live on through Deyan Institute."
The Institute's initial lineup of courses includes introductory intensives and master classes for audiobook narrators, specialized courses for voiceover artists, as well as technical courses on production and post-production for both voice actors competing in the ever-increasing self-recording market and audio engineers alike. Deyan Institute instructors are each acclaimed experts in their respective areas of specialty.
"It's a privilege to embark on this journey in my dear friends Bob and Debra's name," said Deyan Institute founding member and instructor, P.J. Ochlan. "As voice acting and audio production opportunities are becoming increasingly accessible, it's our goal to help cultivate continued excellence in our unique and complex branch of the entertainment industry."
Deyan Institute founding member and instructor Coleen Marlo said, "Our vision for the Institute is to uphold the ideals and excellence of the art form of audiobooks in Bob's name. The Institute will be a place for professionals and non-professionals to develop and nurture their craft as they find their own artistic voices. It is a great honor to be creating this school with Debra, as a legacy to Bob, who is not just a legend in this industry but a beloved friend."
The Deyan Institute campus will be based at Deyan Audio's studio estate in Northridge, CA. The property, which the Deyans acquired in late 2012, houses five state of the art recording studios (each with control rooms), two presentation theaters and post-production facilities in a quiet, lush and bucolic setting. The Institute plans to expand its programs to include the Deyan Audio Tarzana facility, which features four recording studios and more than a dozen post-production stations.
Registration for the Spring 2014 series of courses is now open.
